July 23, 2008 - Publishing | Latin

By Ayala Ben-Yehuda, L.A.

Panamanian phenom Flex, whose pop-reggaeton hit "Te Quiero" is in its 15th non-consecutive week at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart, has affiliated as a songwriter with performing right society BMI.

The society announced Flex' affiliation in the wake of Univision's Premios Juventud, where "Te Quiero" won an award for catchiest tune.

Album and single "Te Quiero" have topped their respective sales and airplay charts in both Mexico and the U.S.; the song hits a new peak at No. 86 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. "Te Quiero" also comes in an acoustic duet with EMI Televisa labelmate Belinda and another with reggaetonero Arcangel.
