June 20, 2008 - Country

TOBY KEITH
By Ken Tucker, Nashville

Roadside Attractions has acquired worldwide rights to Show Dog Productions' "Beer for My Horses," the movie written by, produced by and starring country superstar Toby Keith. Roadside's previous theatrical releases include the Academy Award-nominated "Super Size Me."

Roadside will release the film in the U.S. on Aug. 8 with Lionsgate handling international and all domestic ancillary rights. "Beer for My Horses," loosely based on Keith's hit single of the same name, is his second major feature, following "Broken Bridges." It was produced by Donald Zuckerman and Keith.

Directed by Michael Salomon, the new film stars Keith, his co-writer and comedian Rodney Carrington, as well as Claire Forlani ("CSI: NY"), Ted Nugent, Barry Corbin, Greg Serano, Willie Nelson and Tom Skerritt.

Keith's Show Dog Nashville will release the soundtrack on Aug. 5. It will feature music from Keith, Nelson, Trailer Choir, Nugent, Gina Gershon, James McMurtry, Mac Davis, Mel Tillis, Carter's Chord, Carrington, David Allan Coe and Mica Roberts.
