Streaming Treatment For Bruni's New Set
July 09, 2008 - Global | Digital and Mobile | Indies

CARLA BRUNI
By Lars Brandle, London

Carla Bruni's new album release has been made available to stream ahead of its official release.

The First Lady of France's entire album, "Comme Si De Rien N'Etait" ("As If Nothing Had Happened"), went live in streaming form this morning, ahead of its July 11 release on independent label Naïve in France, and in a string of European territories. Mike Batt's Dramatico Entertainment will issue the set July 14 in Britain.

The Italian-born singer and former supermodel has become a bona-fide icon in Europe since her marriage in February to French president Nicolas Sarkozy. The industry's eyes will be keen to see if miles of Bruni column inches will translate into record sales.

Through the new promotion, each visitor to the multi-lingual www.carlabruni.com site is meant to be allowed two hours in which to hear the 14-track album, which will be streamed until July 21.

Billboard, however, wasn't able to enter the English-language version of the Web site this morning.

Bruni's third album release is named after a photograph taken by her brother, Virginio Bruni Tedeschi, and which features on the album cover.

At her request, royalties from the album will be donated to charitable and humanitarian causes.

Bruni's second album "No Promises" opened at No. 1 in on the Billboard European Top 100 Albums Charts in January 2007, after opening at the top in France. The set has sold more than 380,000 copies worldwide to date, including 110,000 copies in France, according to a spokesperson for her label. Bruni's debut album "Quelqu'Un M'a Dit" topped the chart in France back in 2003.
